AGA
Mark is President-elect of AGA for 2024-25. He had a successful career as a Director of Internal Audit, serving as the Chief Audit Executive within state government agencies in New York and Connecticut. He also served as the Director of Internal Audit in KPMG’s Assurance Services practice in Albany, NY.
He has taught and spoken about internal control frameworks, financial management, fraud, audit report writing, and other aspects of the internal auditing profession throughout the U.S. He was also an Adjunct Instructor at the nationally ranked Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, Department of Public Administration, from 2017 to 2019, where he taught Governmental Accounting to graduate school students.
Earlier in his career, Mark was one of just five Regional Finance and Administration managers in the U.S. for a high-tech Fortune 500 company, responsible for an eleven-state region of the United States. Before that, Mark began his career in the Controller’s Department at the World Bank in Washington, DC.
Mark also has extensive AGA experience. He was the President of the AGA Albany Chapter and served as a Vice President in several Chapter Officer roles. He previously served as the Regional Vice President for the Northeastern Region of AGA. At the national level, he previously served on the AGA Journal editorial board and the Finance and Budget Committee. He is an officer of AGA’s National Governing Board and Chair of the National Council of Chapters.
Mark was president of the New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) for several terms. He also is a former Chair of the NYS Forum, Inc. He was also the Chair of the IIA’s Albany Chapter Research Foundation and a former Research Foundation associate with the IIA.
Mark has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and an M.B.A. in finance and investments from George Washington University, located in our nation’s capital. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and earned his Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) designation by passing the CGFM exam. Mark lives in the Capital Region of Connecticut.
