Nicholas James Macedonia, CFE, CAMS

Nick Macedonia is a Senior Special Agent at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Inspector General (OIG). He has worked in the Federal anti-fraud community for approximately ten years, including roles as a Criminal Investigator, General Investigator, and Analyst at NSF OIG and the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board. Mr. Macedonia’s various positions have focused on the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse of Federal taxpayer dollars issued from NSF and other Federal agencies. Mr. Macedonia has extensive experience in both supporting and leading Federal criminal, civil, and administrative investigations and proactive reviews, the results of which have included: criminal prosecution; civil settlement; suspension and debarment; the administrative recovery of government funds; and, recommendations/advisories to improve agency processes.

 

Mr. Macedonia earned Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Spanish and a Minor in Astronomy from the University of Virginia (UVA). He subsequently took additional business and accounting classes and earned a Certificate in Accounting from UVA. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
