Laura Christianson began her professional career in public accounting at Mullen and Company. Laura continued working in public accounting at EY for 3 years before transitioning into private industry. She has also worked as a consultant for developing curriculum for online education. Her experience includes corporate and partnership tax returns, consolidations, SEC reporting, overseeing accounting and financial reporting for multiple real estate partnerships, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.


Laura has been teaching at UMass Lowell since 2001 and served as the MBA Director for the Manning School of Business from 2012-2015. She is currently an Associate Teaching Professor and also serves as an advisor for the Accounting Society for the Manning School of Business.  Laura is a member of the American Society of Women Accountants, Massachusetts Society of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants, American Institute of CPAs, Ernst and Young alumni network and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Katie Spaeder is a Project Director for the Department of Defense (DoD) in Washington, DC. She is responsible for leading lean six sigma and change management efforts to improve agency processes and programs. The efforts that she’s had direct oversight over major financial system changes and reorganizations.
 
Prior to this assignment, Ms. Spaeder spent five years as an auditor in the agency’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG). As an auditor, her responsibilities included leading and contributing to 11 audits in the OIG’s Mission Support division, as well as leading a myriad of special assignments across the OIG. Her efforts resulted in over 47 recommendations to agency management which led to improvements in intelligence reporting, emergency management, government furnish property, and financial controls. Her achievement has merited six award within the OIG and a Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Award for Excellence in Audits.

Ms. Spaeder graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and is an active Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.

Parris S. Kyriakakis is the Assistant General Counsel at the Office of the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In this role, she serves as a legal advisor, Internal Control Officer, and Records Access Officer. Parris’s practice focuses on state and federal tax, regulatory, and finance law. She is passionate about government transparency, tax and public policy, and promoting diversity. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors and is part of a working group to establish a Homeless Youth Legal Network in Massachusetts. Parris is a graduate of Roger Williams University and New England School of Law.
