Gina Cash joined the Bureau of Special Investigations as Legal Counsel in October 2018. Since then, she has served as Acting Director and was promoted to Director in March 2019. Gina graduated summa cum laude from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Intent on public service, Gina attended and graduated from Howard University School of Law, where she developed her skills as a social engineer. Making good on her commitment, Gina has worked for the Commonwealth since 2010. Before joining BSI, she worked at the Department of Unemployment Assistance, first as a Review Examiner, and then as Assistant Chief Counsel. Gina lives in Danvers with her husband, four dramatic daughters, mom, and Koda (dog). In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping with her daughters, getting outside with Koda, all things softball, and catching up on new shows.
Mike McCall is a former FBI Special Agent, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and certified interviewing expert seeking to assist companies reach satisfactory conclusions by properly analyzing and preserving evidence, locating key witnesses, and hidden assets. Mike is also a college professor and speaker. As an FBI Special Agent, Mike developed his white-collar investigative skills as an IRS-CID Special Agent. Mike was trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and the FBI Academy on "how to follow the money."
Ivonne Gonzalez joined the Bureau of Special Investigations in June 2018 as a Fraud Examiner. In 2019, Ivonne was promoted to Senior Fraud Examiner and most recently to Supervising Fraud Examiner. Ivonne graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Management from Bay Path University. Before joining BSI, Ivonne worked for Greater Springfield Senior Services as an Elder Abuse Investigator. Ivonne lives in Springfield with her fiancé, mom, and dog Bruno. In her spare time, Ivonne enjoys gardening, making jewelry, and spending time with family and friends.
Shannon Slominski began her career with the Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) in March 2015 as a Fraud Examiner. In 2019, she was promoted to Supervising Fraud Examiner, and since October 2020, she has held the title of Assistant Director of the Fraud Investigations Unit. Shannon graduated from Bridgewater State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and obtained her master’s degree shortly after. Prior to joining BSI, she worked at a private investigations firm specializing in insurance fraud and also worked as a Coordinator/Investigator at the Inspector General’s Office. Shannon lives in Medfield, MA with her husband and two daughters. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, trying new restaurants and local coffee shops, beach days, and reading.
Jocelyn Bednarski is a manager with BerryDunn. She provides audit and assurance services to clients in a variety of industries, including construction contractors, professional services, not-for-profits, educational institutions, and social services.
Jocelyn takes the time to get to know and understand each client’s preferences to ensure that the audit process runs as smoothly as possible. She reviews and evaluates accounting system internal controls, helping clients find efficiencies across controls.
Jocelyn provides overhead rate audits, examinations of internal controls, and financial statement audits.
Mr. Shea is a Director within the Financial Crime, Fraud, & Investigative Services (FFI) practice. Mr. Shea has over 15 years of experience assisting clients in Forensic Accounting, Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”), and Anti-bribery and Corruption (“ABC”) matters. He has provided these services to various financial institutions, government agencies, law firms, corporate counsel, and audit committees for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Shea has worked in the Americas, Asia, and Europe during his consulting career. Before joining Guidehouse, Alex worked for a “Big Four” accounting firm with a focus on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations and forensic accounting matters. Mr. Shea has a degree in Economic Crime Investigations with a concentration in Financial Investigations from Syracuse University, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI).
Irene is a Director in Guidehouse’s Financial Crime, Fraud, & Investigative Services (FFI) practice and the head of FFI Investigative Due Diligence team. She has over 20 years of experience in the fields of Fraud Prevention and Detection, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and international sanctions compliance, investigations and remediation.
Irene has implemented and led fraud prevention and detection programs, conducted regulatory compliance reviews, internal investigations, as well as development and assessment of internal controls. She has also been involved in the design and implementation of regulatory compliance and risk management programs and conducted trainings on regulatory compliance requirements, internal controls, procurement and third-party management for government agencies, large multinational companies, and financial institutions.
Irene began her career with the Department of Institutional Integrity of the World Bank where she was engaged in a variety of complex fraud and corruption investigations and conducted ABC and fraud prevention trainings. Upon transitioning to the private sector Irene conducted fraud, corruption, AML, and asset tracing investigations and led an investigative due diligence team. She participated in and led AML, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and FCPA compliance reviews and contributed to assessment and development of compliance programs. Additionally, Irene played a key role in the development of in-house tools and case management systems for anti-bribery and corruption vendor management, fraud detection and prevention in government programs, and AML transaction lookbacks.
Emilie has more than 20 years of experience in providing forensic accounting and fraud examination services to both regulated industry and private clients. She specializes in leveraging data analytics to uncover financial discrepancies and fraudulent activities, performing complex financial investigations, performing document searches and utilizing analytical tools and methodologies to conduct thorough examinations and provide actionable insights. She also has extensive experience performing fraud risk assessments, internal control reviews, litigation support, and anti-fraud and ethics training.
Mark is President-elect of AGA for 2024-25. He had a successful career as a Director of Internal Audit, serving as the Chief Audit Executive within state government agencies in New York and Connecticut. He also served as the Director of Internal Audit in KPMG’s Assurance Services practice in Albany, NY.
He has taught and spoken about internal control frameworks, financial management, fraud, audit report writing, and other aspects of the internal auditing profession throughout the U.S. He was also an Adjunct Instructor at the nationally ranked Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, Department of Public Administration, from 2017 to 2019, where he taught Governmental Accounting to graduate school students.
Earlier in his career, Mark was one of just five Regional Finance and Administration managers in the U.S. for a high-tech Fortune 500 company, responsible for an eleven-state region of the United States. Before that, Mark began his career in the Controller’s Department at the World Bank in Washington, DC.
Mark also has extensive AGA experience. He was the President of the AGA Albany Chapter and served as a Vice President in several Chapter Officer roles. He previously served as the Regional Vice President for the Northeastern Region of AGA. At the national level, he previously served on the AGA Journal editorial board and the Finance and Budget Committee. He is an officer of AGA’s National Governing Board and Chair of the National Council of Chapters.
Mark was president of the New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) for several terms. He also is a former Chair of the NYS Forum, Inc. He was also the Chair of the IIA’s Albany Chapter Research Foundation and a former Research Foundation associate with the IIA.
Mark has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and an M.B.A. in finance and investments from George Washington University, located in our nation’s capital. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and earned his Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) designation by passing the CGFM exam. Mark lives in the Capital Region of Connecticut.
CAPT Patrick Sullivan graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Government. After graduation, he reported aboard the USCGC BEAR in Portsmouth, VA and served as Deck Watch Officer, Educational Services Officer and First Lieutenant. Following his underway tour, he reported to the PACAREA/District Eleven Command Center where he earned qualifications as Maritime Homeland Security Watch Stander and Search and Rescue Duty Officer. Concluding his tour in the command center, CAPT Sullivan was selected for graduate school and earned his Master of Business Administration at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.
Following graduate school, Patrick served in a variety of roles at the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) in Curtis Bay, MD, including Budget Officer and Fiscal Operations and Policy Supervisor. During his tour, he was the primary command representative for all Chief Financial Officer (CFO) compliance issues and initiatives, ensuring financial stewardship of $290 million worth of surface asset inventory. After SFLC, Patrick joined Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, FL as the Command Center Chief. In this position, he served as Search and Rescue (SAR) Mission Coordinator and led a team of specialists maintaining situational awareness over a diverse area of responsibility encompassing 190 coastline miles and 409 river and intracoastal waterway miles. From Sector Jacksonville, Patrick was assigned to Air Station Clearwater, FL, where he served as unit Comptroller, managing a $315 million personal property program and executing a $24 million operating budget supporting 10 helicopters and four fixed-wing aircraft.
He then reported to Coast Guard Headquarters, where he worked in the Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS) front office, serving as Executive Assistant and principal advisor to both the Deputy for Personnel Readiness (DPR) and to the Deputy for Materiel Readiness (DMR). Following his special assignment, Patrick served as Executive Officer at Base Cape Cod in Buzzards Bay, MA, where he was responsible for oversight of all Mission Support functions for Cape Cod and for Pay and Personnel functions for all of Coast Guard District One.
After serving a brief stint as the primary liaison between the Coast Guard Academy and Coast Guard Headquarters and managing the school’s Board of Trustees, he reported back to Coast Guard Headquarters and took command of Base National Capital Region.
During his career, CAPT Sullivan earned both the Certified Government Financial Manager certification and Certified Defense Financial Manager certification. He has been a proud member of AGA since 2010 and serves on the Boston Chapter President-Elect. Patrick was married in 2009 to his wife and former Canadian pop sensation, Amanda, of Mississauga, Ontario and they have ten-year-old twins, Morgan and Shaun and a handsome Boxer, Sonny.
